Salt removal & corrosion prevention
Salt particles, either solved in liquid or as dry crystalline state are the most unwelcomed visitors for your ambient air intakes and downstream equipment. If not controlled they will reduce the life of the duct system and downstream equipment due to their highly corrosive effects. Air-borne salt laden droplets are too small (1µm to appr. 600µm) to be completely eliminated with a single stage system. For efficient protection against salt a minimum of 2 stages (vane type separator + coalescer / vane type separator + fine filter) is required.

ENSEPATEC has developed a broad line of separators that can be supplied in combination with a two or multiple stage particulate filters to provide maximum protection against sea spray and salt particulates at minimal pressure loss and maximum filter life.
Where to use?
Control of salt laden droplets and particulates are most commonly found on offshore (vessels or rigs) or coastal applications, however if you are located in a climate that has snow, salt crystals used on roads and highways can become airborne and winds will carry these salts into nearby ambient air intakes. Any air intake exposed to salt spray or salt particulates require maximum protection to prevent damaging effects from corrosion.
Why SaltSep?
SaltSep first provides maximum protection against intake of droplets. Our vertical vane designs remove virtually 100% of all droplets 15 microns in diameter and larger at very low pressure loss and at higher design velocities than typical horizontal louvers.
Design velocity of the SaltSep separator is optimum at 1,000 fpm (5 mps) as compared to 500 fpm for horizontal louvers. Our systems are designed to keep out the heaviest, wind-driven tropical rains and we even can provide the system heat traced for snow protection and de-icing (see ColdSep). Keeping filters dry is critical to maintain maximum effectiveness of the filters to ensure maximum protection of the air house, duct system and downstream equipment.
SaltSep can also be supplied with downstream filtration for one-stop engineering and supply. SaltSep will directly replace weather hoods or horizontal louvers for ease of installation and minimize downtime. The separators are available in polypropylene, marine grade aluminium or various stainless steels or alloys. SaltSep dry particulate filters are also available in various configurations and materials of construction (flat panel filters, corrugated filters, and pocket filters).
SaltSep provides insurance against corrosion, reduction of throughput or downtime of equipment as well as preventing liquid from pooling in ducts that may foster biological growth.
