Dual-Barrel Separator

Removal of fine dust and liquid

The horizontal two-stage double-barrel filter-separator is a complex device consisting out of two separation compartments, first a parallel set of filter cartridges (to coalesce the fine droplets and to filter the fine dust) and then followed by a second compartment with a final vane type separator.

The coalescing cartridges can be accessed through a QOC (quick opening closure) for maintenance.

The demisting device used is typically a vane type separator designed for high gas velocities. The separated liquid is collected in 2 separate drain compartments in a separate drain header below the main separator vessel.

Performance data

The removal efficiency of a double barrel separator is dictated by the coalescing cartridge and can be as small as < 1.0µm.

The dust holding capacity (life time) depends on the installed filter surface area (number of cartridges) and the load of solid particulates in the gas stream. It can be adjusted according to the operation requirements.

The pressure loss is dictated by operating conditions and the choice of internals. It can be adjusted according to the operation requirements.
